The Critical Business Issue of Our Time - Corporate Sustainability

Our cultural and economic landscape is being reshaped, driven by the demand for accountability and sustainability.

The influx of new and proposed legislation and stakeholder demands aimed at managing corporate accountability is driving the implementation of mandatory corporate targets and reporting requirements for environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.  Simultaneously, stakeholders are becoming increasingly skeptical of corporate claims and it is no longer good enough to just say you are doing things – you need audited proof of authentic actions.

With this changing landscape, it is now widely accepted by stakeholders that, on average, only 20% of a company’s actual value is reflected in corporate financial reports with the remaining 80% reflected in its environmental, human capital, stakeholder and governance practices.  As a result, integrated financial and sustainability accountability and reporting is moving mainstream as corporations understand that sustainability actions align and support overall strategic business objectives.  In fact, companies considered leaders in environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies are also leading the pack in stock performance - by an average of 25 percent.

Corporations are looking for guidance to assist them to operationalize, monetize and produce auditable reports on their sustainability activities.  But without a roadmap, tools and the ability to measure progress and the economic impact, it can turn quickly from a business opportunity - that drives profitable, sustainable bottom-line performance - to a great risk.

The Continuum Network (TCN) has the experience, framework and platform to assist corporations through this evolving paradigm shift.
